mashiankrekku replied to your post: im trying to upload images on to tumblr and facebook from iphoto but as soon as i get to the upload menu i cant access the images inside the library: is there a way of doing it without transporting each image to the desktop every time?

Actually, the upload dialogue has a way you can access iPhoto. On the bottom of the sidebar, there is a “Photos” section (not “Pictures”) You can access the iPhoto and Photo Booth libraries from there. Don’t know if they changed this in Lion.

Ah! Quite true! Works on Lion as well (just tried). Cool!

casualty replied to your post: Verizon DSL Mac Support - Direct phone number

You would have a party with the guys from Comcast. One of them looked at my MacBook and asked how you click on stuff.

Funny, I’ve had good luck with Comcast being able to solve my problem right the first time for whatever reason I had to call them. Granted, they were charging me up the bung for what I was getting so I guess having a shite experience with Verizon is classic, “you get what you pay for”

sgtstretch reblogged your post: Upgrade your storage

burst your bubble, but…isn’t really fast. I’d much rather stick

Actually, if you look at the data, it’s pretty comparable. They’ve managed to squeeze in a lot more data into the same area so that it reads faster while retaining the 5400 rpm speed. Still, you have to admit that a 1TB laptop drive with decent speed for $100 is difficult to complain about.

What are your favorite Mac Apps overall?
poetrysings asked

That’s rather a good question.

Personally, (and I’m just looking at my apps folder here) I’m pretty limited. Aperture, FaceTime, Safari, iTunes, Rosetta Stone. I use Google Apps for word-y/excel-y type things. This iMac here’s pretty barren.

Professionally, TextWrangler for (shell) script writing, Terminal (yes, Terminal), Xcode… that’s about all the work stuff I should talk about.

I used to use the computer a whole lot more at home and I didn’t really like what it did to me. Just always plugged in. Since getting an iPhone, this has changed. Being “plugged in” is still accessible, but it’s more utilitarian now. Streaming podcasts? Sure. My next move on WordsWithFriends, yep. Buying something on Amazon because I just scanned the barcode and found it’s cheaper there than the thing I’m looking at in the store and I just have to wait 2 days for it? Absolutely.

I’ve found my quality of technology interaction has considerably improved since minimizing my use of the iMac at home.

sweetmactips? so you don’t confuse your tumblr followers and make it easy for us to find you! =D

Ah yeah I probably should have clarified… this isn’t for SMT. Just a personal one.

ishotthemaid replied to your post: Tumblr seems to be making my Macbook Pro lag. I’ve done all of the things needed to clear up space. As of right now, my memory has 552MB free and I’m only running Safari and iTunes. Should I consider upgrading my memory to 8GB?

Endless scrolling is the only time I have lag issues with Tumblr, at least from what I can tell. Maybe I should unfollow some people to prevent a full dash?

Good point… endless scrolling may have something to do with it. I also use Safari instead of Firefox and haven’t noticed it. Maybe it’s because Firefox sucks at memory management.

cindyg67 replied to your post: Can you tell me how to reinstall a Mail application on a Macbook OS X? I accidently deleted my Mail application ^~^. And to make matters worse…I have no restore discs or anything. Help?

Hey also I deleted my iChat by accident on my desk top still haven’t figured out how to get that back:-( so if you have any info about that also would be greatly appreciated.

Holy jesus. You guys are like wrecking balls on your Macs. Use your restore disk to get back your apps. There should be an “Additional Applications” installer.

badbeef replied to your photo: This is my iPhone. Fuck. I’ve dropped it exactly…

Take it to the Apple store, a new screen shouldn’t be more than 190$

Or I could go with the $10 I spent and show you how to do it :)

maryellow replied to your post: dannybites replied to your post: ….whats an NDA no…

But on the Apple website it says you can get it for $30.

I mean join the Mac Developer program and you’ll have early access to it. Though you’ll also be under NDA so don’t think about giving it to all your friends or yammering on about it.

thats pretty cool! must be pretty awesome to be in on a HUGE secret.

It’s not THAT huge of a secret. Pony up your $99 and see what I see. If you think Lion’s such a huge secret, you’d be blown away by what I actually do for work.
