In taking a look at those two products, I don’t see them blocking the exhaust, however the keyboard protector has me worried as it may block the airflow coming into the Mac. I believe the way the fan works inside the keyboard is that it sucks air through the keyboard and blows it out through the hinge. If that cover is on the keyboard, the air coming into the Mac is reduced, which bothers me as MacBooks have historically been known to kick the fan on for relatively little action (playing an extended YouTube video is a good example).
Regarding screen protectors… I’m not really sure what the point is. If it’s supposed to protect from fingerprints, don’t touch your screen. I don’t seem to understand why people can’t point without touching. It’s not going to protect your screen from breaking due to impact either, that’s for sure.
About the only use they may have is if you really don’t like the high-gloss that Apple is putting on their machines these days or if the protector is actually a privacy shield. These are kind of neat actually. Hate prying eyes on the airplane? Try a privacy shield. It’s a polarized piece of plastic that fits over your screen and only allows the person sitting directly in front of it to see it. Get any more than about 15 or 20 degrees to the side and all you see is a black screen. Pretty neat.
Here’s your original. I think you’ve just found the “up/down” I was talking about. Maybe I should have been more clear :)
QuickTime can only record one at a time, unfortunately. What you could do is record each independently and then put them together into iMovie, if that would work for what you’re doing.
Regarding the font… I think the question prior asked what the typeface on the keys themselves is, which is VAG Rounded. Yes, Myriad Pro is the typeface that Apple uses elsewhere.
Actually, on that note, Apple uses a lot of fonts, though they’re subtly different
Myriad Pro is used on their product names for the most part and on some of their collateral.
Lucida Grande is used frequently in the OS itself.
As I said before, VAG Rounded is used on keyboards.
Apple also uses Helvetica Neue in much of their software as a default typeface.
Quite interesting, really :)
VAG Rounded. It’s a Helvetica variant.
I’ve got an easy solution… hold the Fn (function) key while pressing delete. That makes it a forward delete. She’ll get used to it in a cinch.
Cheers!
I use both the Bluetooth one and the wired extended keyboard. I actually like them quite a bit. They’re just like the MacBook & MacBook Pro keyboards and are very easy to type on.
If I had my choice, it would be the keyboard action that was on the MacBook Pro just before they went to the Unibody style. I found it very very easy to type on and I could go very quickly on it (in the 90wpm range). This new one is a bit slower.
Though, I like it.
It sounds to me like the top case needs to be replaced. This includes the trackpad and keyboard. Though, I’m not sure what the equivalent in the unibody models is.
In any case, bring it in to your local Genius Bar and they should be able to sort it out with no problem.
