My iMac 2008 model starts up with a greyish white screen with a folder with a question mark in the middle very often, how do I fix that?

That’s an indication that it can’t find the System folder. It could be hardware (failing hard drive) or software (wonky OS). You can do an Archive and Install of your OS to rule-out the software. If that still doesn’t work, you may be looking at a failing hard drive.

hi, so i have an ipod classic thats only a few months old. last night, i slept with my ipod on and when i looked at it in the morning the screen was messed up. it looks like the screen is cracked, but its not physically cracked. (sorry this is hard to explain) there are a lot of colorful lines towards the left side of the screen...i looked it up and apparently it's the lcd screen? i tried restoring it and everything but its still messed up.
i bought some warranty when i got the that was supposed to cover user accidents, so will it cover this? or is there anyway i can get it to go away?
thanks in advance!

Sounds like the LCD panel itself has gone all wonky. (And yes, “wonky” is a highly technical term.)

LCD panels of all sizes can and do fail. Sounds like what you’ve got. Sorry :(

I'm having a problem with the SuperDrive on my white 2007 Macbook. Whenever I pop in a movie disc or a blank cd to burn, the movie disc isn't at all recognized and it just expels it after a few seconds and the cd is recognized but the SuperDrive cannot burn the cd. However, whenever I put in software discs, it reads them just fine. Is there something wrong with the discs that I am inserting or is something up with the SuperDrive that requires a replacement?

It sounds like your superdrive needs to be replaced.

i'm trying to get the most from my PB G4 15" ('05), due to the fact that i'm too poor to buy a Macbook right now.

The official max for RAM is 2GB... have you heard of this machine going rogue and handling more? i crunch big graphic/photo files in Graphic COnverter... ANy other tips for this machine?
thanks in advance!

Hi there-

I certainly understand trying to stretch your computing buck. Unfortunately though, there’s a hard limit on the 2GB maximum in the PowerBook’s firmware.

Crunching big files is definitely easier with more RAM.  I’m afraid you may be up against the limit of the machine. Sorry :(
