I am currently running Photoshop CS4 for Windows on my Mac using Parallels, but I don't start it up unless I have a lot of photos to process because it takes a long time.
Do you know of any free software for Mac that processes RAW files, specifically .rw2 ?

RAW files are a little different. Each camera manufacturer has their own format (that rw2 tells me you’re using a Panasonic) and each camera model has its own profile. Whatever software you use needs to be aware of the camera’s profile in order to successfully use a RAW file generated by that camera.
The reason for this is that a RAW file is basically a data dump of what the camera’s sensor took in when you opened the shutter. It’s pure, unprocessed data. Your software needs to know how to make that into a picture.
What you can do is look through Apple’s list of supported models. This list mentions Aperture 3, though it should also apply to iPhoto 09 (and possibly 08).
If you’re looking for manipulation (e.g. Photoshop-like) rather than processing (e.g. iPhoto/Aperture/LightRoom) your options are limited when you go outside of Photoshop. What you may want to look into is a Photoshop cross-upgrade now that CS5 is out.
What you’ll need to do is call Adobe Sales (should be 1-800-833-6687 in the US) and tell them you’d like to do a cross-upgrade from Windows Photoshop CS4 to Mac Photoshop CS5. It should run you $199 (if you’re a student, they may offer EDU discount but I’m not sure on the cross-upgrade). They’ll have you fill out and fax/email/snail mail this form.
You should get your upgrade shortly after that! I highly recommend going this route.
