FYI, you won’t find it here.
I actually adhere to the NDA that I’m under.
Something Apple changed from the 10.5 to 10.6 installation is the removal of the “Erase and Install” option, which I think was kind of dumb. Sometimes you just want to nuke and pave. It requires an extra few steps now (though not hard):
Any time you do a fresh install and have backed up information to restore, I always recommend only restoring your data. Reinstall your applications and re-set your preferences. This ensures the cleanest possible start.
Good luck!
Sure! And that gives me a great idea for SweetAppSunday…. Stay tuned!
This one is just a hunch, but I saw a great tutorial on how to convert to flash with ffmpeg. Logic says that if it can convert to flash it can convert from it as well. Give it a shot.

Mr. Mac Tips, or is it simply Mr. Tips? You are so smart, that is exactly where PBR comes in. And your selections are commendable, I’ll have to try the witbier, that sounds enticing.
Mr. Tips is my father :)
(Yes I just douche chilled. I’m telling you this because I throw myself under the bus all the time.)
Speakers are one of those super simple things and problems with them usually indicate hardware issue. I’d take the little sucker in.
Now, aren’t you folks happy that this is post 1000 instead of me answering a question about beer? (Though, when given the option, I’ll take beer over rattly speakers, love.)
Congrats flowersandmachineguns (love the name, btw) you’re post 1000. I’d give you some kind of prize or drop some balloons or something, but this is a fly by night enterprise and I have no schwag to give away.
Maybe by post 2000 I’ll be able to mail a balloon out. Celebratory assembly required.
Depends, Mr. Likes It. If you’re sending me a case of PBR, then it’s PBR. If not, it depends on the mood I’m in. Guinness is never turned down. Same with Sam Adams (though I’m not a fan of the Noble Pils). I’ve sang the praises of the Blackberry Witbier quite a few times… Goes down easy and makes you forget it’s like 90% humidity outside. Shooting the shit round a bonfire calls for Bud Light or something else equally hick as a bonfire :) Is this where PBR comes in, Mike?
Well, that display has an HDMI input, so you could just connect to it with that. Apple doesn’t make these, but there is a well rated 3rd party one here on Amazon. Then you won’t need to go buying an adapter for your display and an adapter for your TV. Just use the same one :)
I’d try resetting the SMC and seeing if that helps.
The quad-core i7 is pretty impressive. I’m also quite pleased that they went with the i5 in the 13”. We’ll only see where Thunderbolt (Light Peek) goes. The processor choices helps distinguish the 13” MacBook Pro from the MacBook quite a bit more.
While working as a Mac Genius, this is what we called Idiot Tax.
Have fun :)
New stuff kids! As always, something better for the same money. If you don’t need the absolute latest and greatest, in the next few weeks you’ll see some killer deals on one model back and refurbished one model back MacBook Pros. I’ll make sure to point them out to you!
Yep, MagSafe are compatible with MagSafe. You’re going to want, though, to ensure you get the right wattage. Buying a MagSafe charger off the shelf will ensure this. What I’m on about is you don’t want, say a MacBook Air AC adapter for your MacBook Pro. A big MacBook Pro is going to want the 85W adapter and one from a MacBook Air is only going to pump out 45W.
As a side note, if you have a MacBook Air (for instance) and plug in an 85W adapter, it’ll throttle the adapter down to 45W. Totally safe to do.
So, bottom line, just buy one off the shelf to be safe. You’ll probably notice that the MagSafe connector itself is “L” shaped - this is just a cosmetic design change.
Check your email Pat
No worries :)
1GB of bandwidth… well, if you’re doing mostly web surfing and email, you might be ok with 1GB. It’s tough to say. Stay. Away. From. Streaming.
To give you a gauge, I stream a lot of Pandora and BBC podcasts on my phone and I’ve busted through 2GB every month since I’ve owned my iPhone. There’s been months I’ve gone close to 4GB. I’d have a hard time staying under 1GB. However, you may be ok.

Hey, when my SweetMacTips Tumblr has 34 times more followers than my personal one (OVER HERE!!!), I’m gonna plug-whore myself to more followers.
Shouldn’t you be drinking a PBR? It’s Friday. :P
vb:
I’ll be there last week of March for work. Wanna hang?
Yup. Hit me up, we’ll grab a beer. Show me that Minneapolis doesn’t suck :)
